Rememory’s project, coordinated by Dr. Maite Garolera, head of the Neuropsychology Unit of Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa, has been designed by CST’s neuropsychologists dependence scope and by the computer team lead it by Drs. Petia Redeva, of Mathematics Applied and Analysis Department of Universitat de Barcelona; also it has intervened l’Associació Vallès Amics de la Neurologia (AVAN).
The project’s goal is to develop a cognitive training program based on pictures obtained with a digital camera which collect autobiographical episodes that will be used for memory stimulation for people with dementia risk. The challenge is to create an application to manage the images used in a therapeutic multimodal cognitive stimulation context. In addition, it will conduct the first randomized clinical trial to validate the program of re-testing.
We hope that our results provide evidence of the cognitive stimulation programs based on the re-testing autobiographical cognition, which can positively impact on cognition and represent an effective strategy to improve memory and functionality of people who starts a cognitive decline experience.
In the 2013 edition, dedicated to the neurodegenerative diseases, were presented 187 projects, which were evaluated by 99 international scientists specialized in this field on the basis of their quality, methodology and relevance. The management of the evaluation was conducted by l’Agència de Qualitat I Avaluació Sanitàries de Catalunya, of Health Department.
The ceremony took place this year on the 30 of October at l’Auditori de les Ciències Mèdiques i de la Salut de Catalunya i de Balears.
